Michigan gets slight edge over OSU with Big Ten schedule
The Big Ten announced Thursday its “single plays” for the conference basketball schedule. With the addition of Nebraska to the league and the competition remaining an 18-game deal, each member will play seven teams in home-and-away series and four teams once each.
The Buckeyes’ single plays are Penn State and Purdue at home, Iowa and Minnesota away.
The Wolverines get Wisconsin and Minnesota at home, Iowa and Nebraska away.
Playing Purdue at Mackey Arena, which UM has been assigned but OSU has not, is not exactly a breeze. The Boilers were 15-0 at home last season and are 85-12 under coach Matt Painter. But Wisconsin is 78-6 at the Kohl Center against Big Ten opponents, including last season’s takedown of No. 1 Ohio State and a victory over eventual NCAA champion Duke in 2009-10.
That would appear to benefit the Wolverines, who bring back wing Tim Hardaway and six of the seven rotation players from a squad that finished 21-14 with a narrow third-round NCAA Tournament loss to Duke.

Illinois: Home: Iowa, Michigan State. Away: Indiana, Penn State.
Indiana: Home: Illinois, Northwestern. Away: Nebraska, Wisconsin.
Iowa: Home: Michigan, Ohio State; Away: Illinois, Michigan State.
Michigan State: Home: Iowa, Penn State. Away: Illinois, Northwestern.
Minnesota: Home: Ohio State, Purdue. Away: Michigan, Penn State
Nebraska: Home: Indiana, Michigan. Away: Northwestern, Purdue
Northwestern: Home: Michigan State, Nebraska. Away: Indiana, Wisconsin
Penn State: Home: Illinois, Minnesota. Away: Michigan State, Ohio State
Purdue: Home: Nebraska, Wisconsin. Away: Minnesota, Ohio State
Wisconsin: Home: Indiana, Northwestern.
