Citigroup Hack Hit 360000 Accounts
Citigroup said Wednesday that a recent hack of its system affected more than 360,000 accounts.
That is roughly 1 percent of the company's North America Citi-branded credit card accounts. The hack affected the Citi Cards' Account online system, but not its main cards processing system or consumer online banking systems. As a result, the hackers obtained data like name, account number and contact information, including email addresses. Social Security numbers, dates of birth, card expiration dates, and card security codes, however, were not compromised, Citi said.
Citi first discovered unauthorized access to its systems on May 10. After an assessment, the company confirmed that a total of 360,083 accounts were compromised. Notification letters started going out on June 3, and 217,657 of those letters included reissued cards. If a person's account had been closed or they had already received a new card recently, their cards were not reissued.
"We encourage our customers to review their account statements and to report any suspicious or unauthorized charges to us," Citi said in a statement. "Citi also offers free personalized identity theft solutions to assist our customers in taking appropriate steps if they believe they are a victim of identity theft."
Customers will not be responsible for any fraudulent activity on their account as a result of the hack.
Citi broke down the number of compromised accounts on a state-by-state basis. The largest number of affected consumers were in California, with 80,454 accounts. That was followed by Texas with 44,134 and Illinois with 30,054.
Citi said it has notified law enforcement about the attack, but because of the ongoing investigation, "we cannot disclose further details regarding how the data breach occurred."
The Citi breach is just the latest in a string of hacks, from the high-profile hack of Sony's PlayStation network to the LulzSec hacks of PBS , Nintendo , and other Sony sites .

Creating these is fun and simple!
1) Gather your supplies:
1. Letters spelling your child’s name. (Choose a “thin” letter if you want to use them on the wall, or a “thicker” letter if you want to them to stand alone on a shelf.)
3) Layer and glue the strips over the face of your letter using the PVA glue. (Don’t worry about glue squeezing out the edges – it will dry clear!) Choose a “random” look to layer your strips (like I’ve done) or lay them carefully side-by-side for a more “ordered” look (choose vertical, horizontal, or diagonal). Make sure there are no little spots left uncovered.
11) Begin your varnishing process. Lay the letters on wax paper (or something similar) and spray the varnish over your letters, covering both the front as well as the edges. Do this at least eight to ten times, letting the varnish dry between each spray . The varnish will protect the paper, prolong the life of your letters, and add a shiny, finished-looking surface to your piece. (Of course you should be doing this part outside!)
