Bank Of America Plans SMS-based Overdraft Service | TechCrunch
Tired of having nailed with a $ 35 fee each time you go 10 cent on your balance, but do not want to simply block overdraft on your account? Check this out: Bank of America plans to deploy a new service that sends you a notice to customers through a text message, encouraging them to leave to allow the purchase.
Here's how it works: Say you can not cough up the money for the Samsung S Galaxy II you have been desperately waiting for and it is that you debit card is maximized, too.In this case, Bank of America will send you a text message when you debit card is rejected, asking whether you want to allow an overdraft to occur. If you answer yes, Bank of America will temporarily cover the purchase, and give you until the end of the day to charge your bank account. If you can not recharge your account by the end of the day, they nail you with this $ 35 fee.
The service is not configured to launch until 2012, but should be just in time for the Bank of America cutback of 10 percent of its bricks and mortar branches that the company is trying to pass customers over mobile banking.
