Maoist-hit villages face acute power crisis
Gumla: Several Naxalite-affected villages are facing severe energy crisis due to a delay in the supply of electrical power by the State of Jharkhand Board (JSEB).
The district administration has taken up a project involving the upgrade of replacing a large number of processors in remote villages burned and install switches and AB VCBs under the Integrated Action Plan centrally sponsored, aimed to deny the influence of the rebels in the district.
The administration here had published the amount of 50% after the sanction of a project worth Rs 57.317 lakh to the superintending engineer (SE) of electricity supply circle, Gumla, in February. The SE transferred the amount to the JSEB immediately. "Ironically, the ambitious upgradation project could not be executed as supplies are yet to reach except a 2 KV VCB till date," said a district official.
More so, reminders of the administration to JSEB authorities too have gone unheeded due to its indifferent attitude. Under the district's project installation plan, 100 AB switches, five VCBs and 20 100 KVS transformers will replace burnt distribution transformers in extremists hit Bishunpur, Raidih, Ghaghra Sisai, Bharno, Basia, Kamdara and Gumla blocks in the district.
Electrification of Maoist-hit districts has been taken up as priority sectors under IAP and Gumla has proposed a detailed electrification programme.
