Monday is the day we, as a country, set aside to honor our fighting forces who fell in the line of duty. We owe them so much that setting aside a day to remember them is not only appropriate, but it is necessary for us to reflect on their sacrifice.
In addition to enjoying a delightful day with your family and friends, add a moment to remember our fallen. Our family says a special prayer for my uncle, Mike Bennett, who was killed in the second day of the D-Day invasion in France. My grandmother was not only a Gold Star mother, but she had five sons serving at the same time. I can still see in my minds eye the placard in the window of their home. We wish all of you a safe, fun day and thanks to all who serve or served us.

FiftyForward College Grove Enrichment Centers Red Hatters leave the Grove at 10:45 a.m. today for lunch in Murfreesboro and a tour of the Stones River National Battlefield. The Living Well series continues at 9 a.m. tomorrow. The center is closed Monday in honor of Memorial Day. Call 368-7278 for all the other activities.
